What a contentious title, isn’t?

Before you start to think otherwise, and would like to flood me with other comments, I urge to read further.

I realised that when we say money gives us happiness, there’s always a group of people who would said that; without money, you still will get happiness. You don’t need money to be happy. Money is the root of all evils. Come on! Don’t be money faced etc.

Often times, they missed out the most important point which I would like to share. I totally agree with them that money can’t buy everything and all happiness, and you definitely can get happiness without much money. However, when I make such statement above, I don’t mean that the opposite is true though. I absolute did not think that no money, no happiness. It’s just like me saying I love you to Q, doesn’t mean I don’t love Z & E. Unfortunately, always there’s a handful of people who think that way and I would like to find out why. I realise that, statistically, this handful group of people, are POOR people. POOR in terms of their financial minds. They hate talking about money, and when people bring up money matters, they either ignore it or they always have negative connotations with it. I did a deeper understanding about these group of people, and I realise that perhaps, they had a misinterpretation of money when they were younger. In short, their experience with money when they were younger resulted in the financial blueprint which they have today. That’s why they have a POOR financial mindset. If you happen to have such mindset, read out on the book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. It will help you a lot.

So can money really buy happiness?

Why don’t we change the question to, which are the things that can’t be bought with money?

Many of us will struggle to find write down at least 10 things which can’t be bought with money.

If you have money, you can hire a fitness trainer, a dietician, and hence have better health. If you have money, I guess you will have less quarrels with your spouse, and therefore better quality of life. Happy wife, happy life uh? These may led to a extended life expectancy, and the list shall go on…

However I do think of a few things which money can’t buy. You can’t buy success, BUT you definitely can have head start in life. You can’t prevent cancer/serious illness becoming your best friend, BUT at least with money, you can afford to spend your remaining quality time with your loved ones. Imagine you have no money and you are dying, your loved ones still have to worry about the bills later on.

Of course, naysayers of money can say that with money you become more stingy with it. Worst still, rich men are womaniser, so I don’t want my husband to be rich! Well, I think the above is a character flaw, and indeed it does happen to a minority group of people who eventually has lots of money, it definitely doesn’t apply to the masses.

My mentor once share with me, there’s problem to solve, that’s why I’m here. That’s my value to the organisation. The funny was while I totally understand what he was telling me, I caught something else instead; whether you are rich or poor, you are bound to have problems. I decided that I want to be rich instead.

Having money can never eliminate your problems. However, having money can eliminate 99% of the small problems that you used to face, so that you can focus on 1% of the problems which can be off value to you. Just look at Mark right now. I’m sure he is already very busy handling the Metaverse problems at META , and he does not wish to worry about what to wear on a daily basis.

Both you and I, and Mark, has 1 thing in common; we only have 24 hours day. Let’s spend our time on productive and meaningful things, so stop worrying and start living!

Having money will solve 99% of your problems, so that you can focus on that 1%.
